FCA Ministry Impact Report

At FCA, we believe that sports is more than a game. And it’s not just a pastime. Sports can and should be nothing less than the catalyst for transforming a generation--and turning a nation, an ultimately the world, to Christ.

That’s why FCA’s vision is to “see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches.” This is a tremendous goal - and it’s going to take dramatic growth in our capacity to see it fulfilled. We must expand our ministry, grow our FCA ministry staff, and develop the technology and systems to better serve that staff and free them up for effective ministry. That’s why FCA has embarked on a development campaign with a goal of raising $30,000,000 in three years to fund a five-year plan − and greatly multiplying our ministry impact.

The vision is cast. The plan is ready. The leadership is in place. More important, we fervently believe that this is what God has called us to do. But we need your support to make it happen. We know that FCA can put the heart and soul in sports. And see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches. But it’s going to take guts. It’s going to take determination. And it’s going to take you.

OBJECTIVE 1: Expand FCA Ministry and Programs

FCA is the largest Christian sports ministry in the world. That’s why our first priority is to expand the programs we already have—from camps to campus to community. We are also taking our ministry to coaches and growing it into a comprehensive discipleship ministry that trains coaches not just to apply biblical principles to their coaching, but to their lives. We call it Heart of a Coach—and our new Heart of an Athlete ministry will do the same for athletes—growing them into mature men and women fully equipped to compete for Christ in their sport and daily walk.

Strategies:
1. Launch and grow Heart of a Coach and Coaches Ministry.
2. Launch and grow Heart of an Athlete.
3. Grow FCA Campus Ministry.
4. Grow FCA Camp Ministry.
5. Identify and grow new Community Ministry markets (Sports-Specific, FCA Chaplains, FCA Global and Youth Sports).
6. Develop FCA On-line Ministry.

Funds needed: $11,000,000

OBJECTIVE 2: Grow the FCA Staff

It will take more people--both staff and volunteers − to implement this growth in FCA’s ministry. And those people will have to be far better trained and equipped. FCA will increase the size of our staff dramatically. We will also increase their impact exponentially - through initiatives like developing new training clinics for FCA, launching the FCA Leadership Institute, leadership board development, and stewardship training.

Strategies:
1. Increase staff in existing areas of the country.
2. Plant staff in unreached areas of the country
3. Develop leaders for the FCA ministry.

Funds needed: $11,000,000

OBJECTIVE 3: Serve the Staff and FCA Community

At FCA, we are committed to putting every dollar possible directly towards ministry, and serving our FCA community – staff, volunteers, donors, and the coaches and athletes who’ve been impacted by FCA. This means that we constantly strive to become more efficient, and more effective with the funds we are given. In fact, our goal is to cap administrative expenses at less than 10% of revenue. We must also take huge steps forward in technology, especially for Web-based ministry and by upgrading systems. These systems will free our staff to do more ministry and help FCA do an even better job in our relationships and in engaging and retaining coaches and athletes over time. Just as important, we intend to serve our FCA community by making the Fellowship of Christian Athletes much more widely known and far more visible for the lowest possible cost by marketing via mass media and electronically, including national radio and TV broadcasts and pod casting.

Strategies:
1. Become the most efficient and effective support team of any ministry.
2. Utilize technology as a means to provide tools that enhance staff and volunteers ability to do ministry.
3. Create a focused marketing effort to increase awareness and long-term retention of athletes, coaches and donors.

Funds needed: $8,000,000
